Another late night

I hatehatehate all nighters, especially when I've worked the majority of the day before said all nighter. But tonight seems to be doing rather well in the stay-up-studying department. Tonight, I have to finish THIS:

- Annotate "A Modest Proposal"
- Study English tone words
- Finish packet on fragments (Yes, I hate it too)
- Study German
- Study APUSH by typing up review and knowing I know everything on it

My contacts are getting crusty, so I have to go take them out. I'm glad my bed is made and therefore I can't get under the covers---I might wind up studying there.

Tomorrow I have three tests all in a row: Vocab for English, Chapter 11 for German, and Unit 4 for APUSH. If Environmental Science put the chapter 3 test off for today, I think I would have to make myself sick.

So for now I'm just listening to a mix of Hayley Westernra, Ragtime, Avenue Q, and Glee as I work. I've noticed that background noise actually helps me a lot---as long as I don't have to keep clicking over to change it.

Speaking of Glee: tonight's episode was AMAZING. Probably the most intense one yet, and a real turning point largely for Kurt, Sue, and Artie. If you're not a Gleek, then you'll have no idea what I'm talking about...but otherwise, tell me what you thought! Was the entirety of "Defying Gravity" amazing, and the ending insanely sad?

Oh, and what is UP with Finn? I'm never sure whether or not to like him.

NaBloPoMo: Day Six

You know something sad?

I just wrote "Day Five" just after looking at my calendar. Yeah, I'm tired.

Goodnight. Mockingbird review tomorrow.

NaBloPoMo: Day Four

I'm considering redoing the format of my Blog. Probably not this month, though, since I'm already going through with this NaBlo thing.

But anyway, I've lately been on this huge journey of self-organization. I've tried for months to keep my room clean and schedule under control, but often find myself throwing clothes in front of the bathroom door and procrastinating on homework with things such as FaceBook, DeviantArt, Blogger, etc.

In all desperation, I decided to face humiliation at school by carrying THIS around:

Obviously, I don't look like a very cool reader (Unlike my friend Mark, who's currently carrying around Chuck Palahniuk's Fight Club) but I have to admit, it's been working. I decided to not procrastinate today, and though I didn't get EVERYTHING done, I got everything totally important done, and it's only 10:20. I'm giving myself 10 to 20 minutes to finish my laundry and clean up/get ready for tomorrow, and then I'm calling lights out. 10:45 might not exactly be considered "early", it's a better deal than the going-to-bed-at-Midnight deal that I've been doing for the past few weeks.

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

"[If you see someone with gum], stop everything and go tell a trusted adult."

Interupting the regularly scheduled APUSH-doing

To say that I took a 15 minute nap and bought the Glee: Season One CD. I'm listening to it as I'm working and it's pretty much wonderful.

Sleeping in my contacts was a mistake, though. My eyes feel disgusting.

Gearing up for a late night

A couple weeks ago, I was up until four in the morning doing the most insane amount of APUSH homework known to man. I thought I learned my lesson about checking the syllabus and staying on top of things and getting ahead.

I'm getting ready to go on another one of those homework binges, exactly two weeks after the first one.

This so cannot become a fortnightly tradition.

Back to Oz

Though Mom and I had already seen Wizard of Oz last week, we decided to go again with my friend Janelle tonight. It was just as wonderful as last time, and our seats were really good---middle, few rows behind the crossover aisle. I ran into numerous YTHC alumni (and other people I hadn't seen in a year) that I was friends with, and they were more than happy to sign my "Shirt of Love". The shirt is the T-shirt I got for going to the Wizard of Oz workshops. It's largely white, and since I didn't have a signed poster like last time, I decided to get all my friends, YTHC or not (anyone at the show, really) to sign it. After tomorrow night, which is closing night (I'm going again) the shirt will be my new pajama top.

Why my blog is boring as of late

It's dawned on me that most of my interesting stories happen during the school year, when I can write about things such as being sent around the school a la Animal Crossing or accidentally getting hit in the jaw with a half-full Propel bottle. In the summer there isn't much for me to write about, because there is little going on. Mom seems to be covering Jamaica, so that leaves me with just about nothing.

I could talk about how we set up my bed (I traded my daybed for my dad's old double bed), but, really: do you honestly want to hear about it? I'll blog that when I have a comforter instead of makeshift sheets and all, but right now it isn't that blogworthy.

My blog is at it's best when it's like a never ending version of Idiot Girls, and whether the kind of post would fit more in Flying Tantrum of Death or Action Adventure Club doesn't particularly matter. When I'm cool with it, I like talking about strange things that happen to me throughout the day.

I'm trying to think, and the only thing that hits mind is that, in response to the loud hum of the vacuum, Harvey, who I was holding, did a nice little number on my arm---three inches across and drawing a little blood, to be precise. I tried calming him but he kept trying to claw himself away until I had to just grab his feet and toss him on the bed in the next room.

Now I look completely emo. I wear jeans during the day to cover up the scabbed bug bites from Jamaica (and my non-shaven legs because I'm afraid to shave over so many open wounds"), and now I have a line down my arm. Good time to be wearing jeans and hoodies---the newspaper today boasted something along the lines of "Humidity rises temperatures in area by at least three to seven degrees all week!"

There. If I could blog that on a daily basis, maybe I'll get somewhere. On other days, I suppose I'll lament about the blog. Either that or share random, stupid facts about something I did that day (Like put up a bed or cheer on the wrong actor in Matrix just because I knew who Hugo Weaving was and I didn't have the foggiest clue who anyway else was).

Bullet statements

  • Mom let me sleep in late today because I knew I wasn't doing anything in first through third period (and it turns out I wasn't). It was nice to actually sleep for the first time in several days.

  • The piano player for "Sorcerer's Apprentice" didn't show up today...again. I'm getting a little anxious about it.

  • I'm not entirely sure what to do for an upcoming school talent show.

  • The first rehearsal for Wizard of Oz was tonight, and despite being in a rather nasty mood about it beforehand, I'm really excited now.

  • Maya sent me this:

  • The high school band concert is tomorrow, so I practiced some of my music for that (and Sorcerer's Apprentice). Looks like I'm a beast on Apprentice and somewhat adequate for high school music.

  • I really wish I didn't have to go to school tomorrow. We're not doing anything as far as I know. Hopefully, we'll finish Sound of Music in German.

Unlikely events

Today I:

- Watched Sound of Music in German class (but the English version, so I was humming the lyrics in the back of the room)
- Had a very strange grade in English for all of 20 minutes
- Practiced "Sorcerer's Apprentice" for about an hour
- Helped someone at Youth Orchestra figure out a measure in "Superman" that I had always had trouble with.

And as it's only nine, you know what other unlikely thing I'm going to do?

- Go to bed EARLY (Hoozai!)

A Day with the Presidents

Apparently I had all sorts of projects due tomorrow (or Wednesday, but more or less tomorrow), so that's how I spent my afternoon.

Until about 8:30, I was in Photoshop making an ad for a German clothing store (Kleine Kleider---immer für die Kinder!). Then it was a PowerPoint on Marbury vs. Madison with stick figures in the sense of "Life is Good". Eventually, I'll blog the text and pictures. They're quite cute, I think.

So I didn't get to bed by 10:30, as it's 10 minutes until then. However, tomorrow I'm pretty much guaranteed to, as I won't have any projects, I can spend social studies doing any homework I have, etc.

Time to send in my social studies and pack up my german!

Sleep: what keeps me awake

Today was the Foreign Language Fest, which was actually a lot of fun! My two events (Writing and Oral Proficiency) were right next to each other, so I was able to enjoy myself for most of the day. I met up with several of my YTHC friends at the student center for lunch (Chick-fil-A) and it was nice catching up with them. Then, I waited outside for about an hour with about eight of the other Fort Knox-ers.

My results were okay, I think. I got 2nd place in Level I Writing and 2nd place in German Videos: All Levels. Mike snagged first, but I personally liked his video better than mine so I'm not too upset. And he pointed out that maybe we should make movies together as we're (apparently) the "best" German filmmakers in the region. I do wonder if anyone else even made a video though.

We all got back to school for the final ten minutes or so, and then it was the school dance. To put it bluntly, I could have done without going to the dance. It was two and a half hours out of my afternoon (and I have three tests tomorrow!), and I spent two hours of that against a wall, being anti-social.

I understand most of the German for the chapter six test, though. There's one thing I need to look over for social studies tomorrow, and we get 15 minutes to study in science. I think I'll be good.

And now to go to bed. Sorry for not posting as Eli or Jack today, Aubrey and Maya, but maybe tomorrow.

Blog365: Day 32

We're 1/12 of the way through 2009! After this month, technically speaking, we'll be 1/6. Two months later, 1/4. How "Slipping Through my Fingers All the Time"-ABBA-Mamma Mia! of us.

Today is the last day of our 6-day, unplanned ice-week. It's really nice inside the house today, so if it could have been like this (Internet, heat, light, etc) the entire time, I think it'd be the best 6 days ever.

However, today is the day to do all the stuff I've put off since...Monday. That is, if you'll pardon another one of my infamous lists:

- Do my German homework (some cornell notes...I hate cornell notes)
- Bassoon, as its been too cold to do so comfortably for quite some time
- Clean my room
- Finish reading Fellowship of the Ring and How to be Popular

February's NaBloPoMo theme this month is "want". Therefore, here's a list of what I want to do, but sadly can't:

- Roleplay
- Watch Lord of the Rings, Breakfast Club, or Mamma Mia!
- Keep reading this amazing Sweeney Todd fanfiction Aubrey found

And I usually am not a fan of fanfiction, especially for Sweeney Todd. It all seems to just be "Ohhhh Mrs. Lovett loves Sweeney so naturally he should love her" and with a flick of a switch and the rattle of some keys typing, volia: Sweeney Todd can be your dream Casanova. (He can also take pity on the Judge, try and break up Johanna and Anthony, or legalize Toby's adoption papers)

The good thing, though, is that there's a 2-hour delay tomorrow. That means that at earliest I have to get up at 7:30 to catch the bus at 9. With that, I can go to bed at 10 tonight at still have 9 1/2 hours. That's more than I typically get when I try and be in bed by 8:30!

It'll be nice being able to see what's outside when I wake up, though. It's pitch black when I catch the bus at 7 most mornings.

Blog365: Day 14

I have a German quiz tomorrow, so I need to study for that. Otherwise, I'm headed to bed as soon as possible. I got to sleep at 11 last night, and that ISN'T happening again.

Sorry for the lack of post recently. This has just been a long, boring, kind of painful (OW my mouth) kind of week.

Bedtime!

Why do people stay up until all hours?

I mean, I have my homework done. I'm about to have my blogging done. It isn't even eight. Which is exactly why I'm going to sleep early tonight and, hopefully, for the rest of the week.
